Welcome.

My name is Adrian Spitters, and I am an Author and Financial Advisor.

I’m a good ol’ boy who grew up on a dairy farm in Mission, BC.

After I became an investment advisor, my father died and our family’s life was shattered.

My father had not created a proper succession plan and his failure to do so had a major impact on our family’s future.

I talk about this experience, what impact it had on my life and what I have been doing since, in this podcast interview with Bruce Sellery, of moolala, Money Made Simple.

Nowadays, when I’m not writing books to help farmers, business people, and investors, I help people who seek me out. They want to make wise decisions about where to put their money.

A team of talented financial specialists (accountants, lawyers, insurance specialists and estate planners) is ready to advise those interested in how to avoid making the same mistakes my dad did.

Finding these excellent advisors has bee a lifelong goal.

Feel free to call me at 604 855.6846.

I’ll buy the coffee or lunch and answer all your questions.

Let me help you protect yourself against the coming financial storm!

On this site, you will find information on each of my four books. Click on the menu links above.

You will also be able to request a free paperback copy or download a PDF copy for your file.

The books are also available on Amazon as paperback and Kindle versions.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Don’t wait too long to call, the winds of change are blowing!

Who’s Investing Your Money?

Who’s investing Your Money is dedicated to all those who have worked hard to accumulate wealth and want to manage it well.

Who’s investing Your Money discusses all the aspects of financial planning I have learned over the past 30 plus years in Canada.

Through the ups and downs of the markets, local and global economic cycles and increasing tax burdens, I have been exposed to the very best and the very worst advice and practices the financial services industry has to offer.

I have learned a great deal from my own unfortunate mistakes and, the mistakes of others.

Through it all, I have been able to offer solid advice that saw my clients create multi-generational wealth.

This success is in large part because of the excellent team of advisors on whom I have relied on throughout my career to make recommendations to my clients.

Now that I have retired from the investment side of the financial services industry; I want to give fair and balanced recommendations on how to invest without corporate bias and regulatory restrictions. I now have the privilege of working with some of the top advisors in all areas of the financial services industry.

With my personal experience and interest, I am now specializing in Business, Farm, and Family Wealth Transition Planning.

Helping my business, farm, and affluent families grow and protect their wealth while keeping the taxman at bay, is especially gratifying.

While I am no longer offering investment advice, I want to point people who search me out in the right direction.

That is why I wrote this book. To pull the curtain aside, so to speak.

Who’s investing Your Money
asks a number of questions that every savvy investor, farmer, and business owner needs to ask their financial advisor.

In this book, you will also learn how to ask the right questions to select the best financial advisor for your situation.

The book addresses other questions such as:
   1. What type of advisor should I choose?
   2. What can I expect in terms of fees?
   3. Is my home a good retirement investment?

Don’t you want to join those whose careful planning paid big dividends?

Ready to Sell Your Business?

Most business owners don’t have time to think too far ahead into the future. That’s because they’re busy attending to the needs of today: producing high-quality products, overseeing employees, and managing the mind-boggling number of details that go into owning a business.

If they do think about the future, it’s usually about new government regulations, how the recent elections will impact their business and perhaps new market opportunities for their products.

The truly long-term decisions, like when to sell or transition their business (not to mention how to do it), are mentally filed away under the heading, “Bridge to cross when I’ve come to it.”

But that bridge may be a lot closer than you think.

Sometimes, late at night, those thoughts come.
It’s time to move on.
Or when your spouse is begging you to take some time for a vacation.
Or the grandkids call and ask when you are coming for a visit.
For over 30 years I’ve worked with business owners and farmers to help them plan for their future.
This book was written to help business owners begin to ask the right questions about letting go and ride into the warm sunset.
I know it’s hard to think about that.
But you’re not quitting. You are entering a less busy time of your life.
You’ve worked hard and you deserve it.
Now you can dedicate more time to your favourite charity.
Mentor some up-and-coming go-getter young people.

I’ve prepared this special book just for you.

In just a few short pages, we’ll look at:

      1. some of the challenges facing business owners who want to quit working someday;
      2. what the most successful business owners are doing now; and
      3. where you can get additional help.

One of my goals is to give you ideas on how to plan for your eventual transition into retirement and have peace of mind.

It’s time. While you can still choose and make decisions.

Don’t wait too long to call, the winds of change are blowing!
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Ready to Sell Your Farm?

One day your farm will change hands…
Will you transfer your farm to your children, extended family, or sell to a third party?
Will it be on your terms?

So, ask yourself:

      1. Do you have a plan in place to increase the value of your farm before it’s time to sell?
      2. Do you have a plan in place that will enable you to transfer your farm to your family or sell to a third party?
      3. Have you planned how to retire on your terms, instead of being forced to transfer or sell your farm on someone else’s?
      4. Are you proactively preparing a successor who will enable the continuity of your farm operation?

Or are you one of the 65% of farmers who haven’t planned that far ahead?

It’s true: most farmers haven’t prepared for the day when they will transition or sell their farm. That makes them vulnerable to an involuntary sale, meaning they will be forced to sell their farm due to death, disability, or other reasons.

As you can see, the question of when and how to transition your farm is something that needs to be answered sooner rather than later.

How to Sell Your Farm Successfully helps you examine these and many more questions.

I’ve prepared this unique book just for you. In just a few short pages, we’ll look at:

      1. some of the challenges facing farmers who want to quit working someday;
      2. what the most successful farmers are doing now; and
      3. where you can get additional help.

One of my goals is to give you ideas on how to plan for your eventual transition into retirement and have peace of mind.

Here Are Some Challenges You Will Face:

    1. How to determine the value of your farm;
    2. Where and how to find the right buyer;
    3. How to choose the right time to sell;
    4. Deciding whether to transition your farm to a family member or sell to a non-related party;
    5. Determining whether selling your farm will bring in enough proceeds to fund your retirement and other financial goals;
    6. Ensuring the orderly payment and transition of ownership/management of your farm to your successor/heir;
    7. How to minimize the taxes that come from selling your farm;
    8. Ensuring you have sufficient assets to secure you and your family’s future.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.
